Today I met
Although I’ve volunteered at the hospital for two years now, I recently began meeting people who open my eyes and have shared their stories with me. The first guy was pretty cool, wearing a checkered beret and suit jacket. I asked him if he was excited to get home and he said yes but it won’t be the same since his wife died last year. But he didn’t seem too sad, he said, he’s just ready to get out there, walk a little and enjoy himself.
The second lady, she was cute and her husband was dressed like Steve Jobs. I asked her how long she’d been here and said just a day surgery, diagnosed with breast cancer. I asked -and hope I wasn’t intruding if they caught it early, she said it was actually stage 3. Then she went on to tell me her Steve Jobs had cancer since he was 19 and continually goes through treatement but is still strong, he was her motivation and said if he can do it so can I.
What a day.
